Typical Hollywood drivel. Acting is more like Hollywood cameos than development of characters. Use of word “retard” offensive and could easily have been substituted. Women portrayed stereotypically. Pathetically predictable, uninspired. Boy never shows anger or disobedience... very unnatural.Typical Hollywood drivel. Acting is more like Hollywood cameos than development of characters. This gardening dvd set is for people who have never gardened and who live in the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE.
Host displays no knowledge of gardening.
Programme focuses only on the very basics of gardening in New Zealand.
Lots of segments on canning locally grown New Zealand fruit.
Taken aback by the average obesity of interviewees...
Cups of sugar are in every recipe!

This excellent book should be mandatory reading for every muncipal/ city/ provincial representative who needs to make a decision regarding housing clusters, sidewalk to house ratio, public parks, walkability, trees as district boundaries, grey water usage, the restriction of neighbourhood size, and so much more. Basically, Ontario and its elected representatives have a lot to learn about making our cities more livable versus more densely packed and stressful. A bench and six trees named after a councillor does not make a park! Height limitations matter -- and affect noise level, access to sunshine, and one's sense of belonging to a real community! Everyone can learn a lot about important fundamental social needs by reading this book!!!This excellent book should be mandatory reading for every muncipal/ city/ provincial representative who needs to make a decision regarding housing clusters, sidewalk to house ratio, public parks, walkability, trees as district boundaries, grey water…

A "Sherlock" whose actor projects his voice like he is always "on" a stage, who is too young to have had any mysterious past, who has a computer-programmed brain rather than one based on exotic experiences, who seems to CRAVE attention rather than walk in the shadows... who is rude rather than reclusive... and what's this about hugging a landlady he hardly knows? This is a Sherlock-if-he-had-been-raised-in-daycare portrayal -- a far cry from AC Doyle's original brilliant creation. The plots are cartoonish -- Sherlock "solves" a puzzle simply because a woman wearing pink is going to carry pink luggage (blue luggage if she had been wearing blue, I suppose?). Sexist overtones with the ordering of the housekeeper BY BOTH MEN to serve them food, and the treatment of the only other female figure (detective) is overtly dismissive. Includes the now-obligatory discussion that a gay roommate is fine (of course).A "Sherlock" whose actor projects his voice like he is always "on" a stage, who is too young to have had any mysterious past, who has a computer-programmed brain rather than one based on exotic experiences, who seems to CRAVE attention rather than…

Great ensemble acting by Hoffman, Adams, and Davis (who is a standout). Unfortunately, Meryl Streep struggles with her role, dropping then adding an accent, and depicts a nun a la wicked witch of the west rather than a full fleshed out portrayal with some nuances. This sadly detracts from a film whose play version won the Pulitzer Prize. (Too bad the director didn't recast the stage actress Cherry Jones to repeat her Tony Award winning role instead of choosing to go with film star Meryl Streep). Amy Adams gives a GREAT restrained performance as a nun struggling with the depictions of good and evil before her. Hoffman, as always, does an exceptional job as the priest suspected of wrongdoing. The children are very good as well. Streep, however, really gives a substandard performance. Still, this film is worthy of watching, especially for its message regarding judgment.Great ensemble acting by Hoffman, Adams, and Davis (who is a standout). Boring pictures, boring commentary, boring book. Covers too large a timeline and is filled with teeny photos that reveal nothing. This is really a teen horror film. Teenagers will no doubt love this film: simple plot, simple depiction of good versus evil, controlling mother, some sex, much graphic violence. Overhyped. Older viewers will recognize this as the film "Carrie" with ballet thrown in to give it "class".This is really a teen horror film. Attractively mounted film. Plot is weakened by the casting of a rather bland-looking actor in the role of Sebastian, a character meant to symbolize both beauty and love to the emotionally neglected (and thus, vulnerable) protagonist (Charles). This miscasting weakens the film, making one see no tension in Charles's choice between brother and sister. The residents of Brideshead should have been as beautiful-looking as the estate (each beautiful enough to be sought after as a "bride's head" for Charles). Matthew Goode is excellent as Charles, as is Emma Thompson as the controlling religiously-fanatic mother. (Miss Thompson at times looks more beautiful than the daughter!). Worth watching if only to see Thompson and Goode act.Attractively mounted film. Some practical hints on how to wear a suit, but not too much info for the contemporary man. Also, the numerous manipulated before and after photos makes one suspect of the author's advice. And isn't that heiress Barbara Hutton on page 243 and not Cole Porter's wife as the author claims? The black and white photos and illustrations make one long for the years (30s, 40s, and 50s) when clothes (esp. suits) really helped to make the man. Some practical hints on how to wear a suit, but not too much info for the contemporary man.
