Fairly forgettable story. Why was the master in it? Just because. Something ok to watch if you like this era, but very mediocre. I think more effort went into costumes and sets than writing an interesting story.

This was the first Doctor Who I ever saw, 40 years ago on TVOntario's Dr. Dator meets Doctor Who show.

For a young lad with an interest in a change from the ordinary and stretching the imagination, this show was part of an almost daily dose of excitement very different from Star Trek, vastly superior to CTV's The Starlost and somewhere between The Prisoner and Space 1999 in interest.

There was a completely different feel from an action perspective on Claws of Axos, and this was my introduction to The Master.

Jim Dator's explanations and recaps of the episodes within the cultural and science context of the time was an inspiration for me.

Those clips aren't on this disk, but there are many extra features bundled with this collection that are similar.

Listening to Katy Manning's commentary track is a wonderful glimpse into the lives of the people making this show. :D
