Fantastic miniseries! Love this show. Very well done with a superb cast! Definitely nsfw and definitely not for kids!

Political Animals is a show based around a fictional American first family, the Hammonds, their lives after Bud Hammond’s successful presidency. The show starts with Bud’s ex-wife Elaine Hammond running for president and goes through the motions of what happens when her initial campaign is unsuccessful and how it impacts everyone in the Hammond family. This show is very interesting because it shows what actually happens when it comes to the race for presidency and how people are not always who they seem. I love this show because of one of Elaine’s sons, TJ Hammond. He is played by my favourite actor Sebastian Stan and is a very sad person who is constantly looking for someone to believe that he can redeem himself. He is the first openly gay first son and therefore has a host of problems that stem from being forcibly outed and thrown into the spotlight at a young age. TJ is only one of the reasons why this show is amazing and I recommend it to anyone with the time to watch a six episode series. It is, in my opinion, extremely worth it. In a word: cheezy.

This series isn't so much plucked from the headlines, as plagiarized. The characters are caricatures of US politicians and the plot-lines are cartoonish re-enactments of beltway scandals.

Worst of all, is Sigourney Weaver parading around like a sex symbol. OMG, lady! Look in the mirror.

This is an enjoyable miniseries. There are only 6 episodes. They considered a full season but decided against it which I think was wise. Plenty of scandal, back door dealing and backstabbing. I read it was based loosely on Hillary Clinton and I could see the similarities, especially since Sigourney Weaver's character is the US Secretary of State married to a popular former POTUS who loses some of those popularity points due to his constant womanizing.
