A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle is the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld, who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser, is forced to work for wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso. DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting. Carmine Polito is the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the cons and Feds. Irving's unpredictable wife Rosalyn could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down.

Con artists are forced by the feds to con criminals, congressmen, a mayor, and the mafia. At times they are conning even the feds. Hey, actors con the movie audience into forgetting that what they are seeing is a movie. It is great fun to watch the actors play double, triple, who knows what level of con in "American Hustle". This film deserves a second look to just figure out if one can tell who is conning who before the con is explicitly revealed by the characters. After watching this film think about it. The cons in this film are peanuts compared to the con job played on the American public on 11-8-16.

May 23 2016....Well, at first I thought....”What is this?” But, after a while, it caught me up and reeled me in. The music, well, for me was a great trip down memory lane. The acting was nothing short of supberb... wow! (Don't forget to watch the extras to see the actors in real life, especially Irving! A total trip back to the decade of the '70's, not my favourite decade, but a good one to laugh at! (I don't remember those plunging necklines, but then I wasn't exactly living in New York either!

It may be easy for non-american audience to understand the content.

This should have been a phenomenal movie, but it truly fell short. The acting was incredible, but the script was just not that great. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence were stand-outs, but overall the cast was terrific. I feel like the movie was trying to capture the magic of Goodfellas, but it just couldn't.

I guess I was expecting more with a cast like this. It was good, but it wasn't the best I've seen. Worth the watch though.

Pretty good movie...unexpected twists and turns and very unexpected ending. Amy Adams, despite her squeaky clean persona, was convincing. Would recommend it.

Amazing Hustle. I can't remember what won the Oscar, but this should have. Great all around, but Christian Bale steals the show with his almost unrecognizable Performance. The Costumes! The Sets...Bring back the '70s, Disco, Perms and all. (except, of course, "Disco Duck")

American Hustle is an entertaining portrayal of a high-stakes sting operation. I gave it four stars because it had great acting, suspense and attention to detail and style. My only criticism is the story does not provide enough of a foundation to have us buy into how the con man Rosenfeld abruptly changes his ways as a result of becoming close to one of his principal targets - Mayor Carmine Polito. It's just hard to accept a seasoned con man having such a soft spot for another human being without providing much more background than the writers and editors of the film gave us.

In “American Hustle” cons and feds are not that different from one another; they both want power. This is a good movie, but I would have preferred an actress with more years of experience for the role of Rosalyn.

Paco Hernandez: Yeah, I think the name of this operation is offensive. This whole thing is racist. What, ABSCAM? "Arab-scam"? It's racist! --- Irving Rosenfeld: When you are offered a favor or money, take the favor, not the money. Jesus said that, didn't he? ---- Sydney Prosser: [reluctantly realizing his angle] Everybody at the bottom crosses paths eventually in a pool of desperation and you're waiting for them...---Irving Rosenfeld: How about "we"?
