"Paul used to go around in circles. He made big circles and little circles. He circles from left to right and from right to left. He circled from top to bottom and from bottom to top. What else was there to do? Until one day, when Bernadette drops in and shows Paul that there is a whole world out there, with so many things to see!"--Jacket flap.

This book is about Paul and his journey of circling around in his fish tank. Then once he meets Bernadette, Paul has nothing else to do but go round and round. But now Bernadette introduces Paul to explore the world they see a banana and think its a boat, they see a flower and think it is a forest with trees of every color, they think a clock is a cactus, they think a lot of things wrong. Now that Bernadette has introduced Paul to the new world, he would now be busy of doing other things not just circling around his tank. This is a very friendly book which makes it really interesting. Rating 4/5.

This is such a beautiful book! Paul is just going around in circles, until Bernadette shows him the world outside the bowl. Does it matter that the elephant and her babies are actually a teapot and teacup? NO! Paul and Bernadette are goldfish. The banana is a boat, the teaspoon is a fish, and it really doesn't matter. All that matters is that they are together.

One thing- the "Dress" that Paul imagines as looking beautiful on Bernadette is a newspaper... so, either the author meant to reference fish n chips wrapped in newspaper, or that was an alarming oversight!

A beautiful story of new friends and different perspectives. A good story to read aloud and share with your little ones who will recognise the familiar objects when the characters do not!

A sweet story of friendship with lovely, painted illustrations. The storytime kids thought it was funny when Bernadette identified a banana as a boat and a teapot as an elephant.

Until Bernadette dropped in with a splash, Paul was content to simply swim round and round his fishbowl. But Bernadette shows Paul the wonders of the world -- at least, the world as it appears through the curved glass of their home. Kids will be amused as Bernadette confidently identifies a bunch of bananas as a boat, and will rush to correct her claim that the big blue thing pouring tea is actually an elephant, but like Paul, they'll be fascinated by Bernadette's unique perspective. Don't miss this whimsical tale about the power of friendship to ignite imagination.
