Taking a close-up look at such birds as eagles, flamingos, parrots, swallows, and vultures (to name but a few) - Winged Planet is quite an educational and entertaining nature-documentary that presents (for the viewer's benefit) a whole new perspective on the flight of winged animals.

This documentary also brings into view the activity of dolphins, sharks, whales, and manta rays.

Featuring awesome state-of-the-art technology, along with highly-advanced camera techniques - Winged Planet is an often-intriguing (and equally entertaining) nature-documentary that offers the curios viewer a "bird's eye view" of this here planet of ours like they've never seen it before.

Professionally presented by the BBC - Winged Planet allows the excited viewer the golden opportunity to fly right along with some fine, feathered friends as these airborne creatures make their way to various locations around the world.

For me - The most stunning and impressive moments of Winged Planet was watching the absolutely dazzling footage of swarming starlings. How these birds managed to coordinate this incredible mass movement (without crashing into each other) is truly one of the many marvels of the natural world.

Just what I want from a nature documentary: outstanding photography, fact-based non-anthropomorphic narration, and context of how the subjects interact with their environment. David Tennant should take on more narration assignments.

The cinematography alone makes this worth recommending. The filmmakers follow the lives of birds in various parts of the world, exploring their relationships with each other, and life at sea and on the land. The camerawork is astonishingly beautiful.
