I enjoyed the part about his experience in Afghanistan searching for Bowe Bergdahl, who was later returned to America in exchange for 5 prisoners by Obama.

Fast moving, truly complicated family. I didn't know it was a trilogy, and this is 3of3, so I am getting 1 and 2 to read now.

Complex family relationships involving betrayal and murder and self discovery.

Having read the second book of the trilogy a while ago, I was concerned that I wouldn't remember key plot points when reading this third and final installment. Hah. Much of this book is very repetitive. This is by far the weakest of the three books; all of the shocking actions and revelations came in the first two, and this book is all about people coping (badly and in long interior monologues) with those revelations. One main character's informal psychoanalysis is a main part of the book, so you get interminable discussions between him and the therapist about his reactions and problems. Read the first two books and skip this one; the 'resolution' isn't even that interesting.

So disappointing, the first two books in the trilogy were quite good. This one was repetitious, with huge chunks repeated from a previous book (in case you forgot what had happened I guess). Not even sure why I finished it.

I didn't read the middle section of this book.......... it just got too horrific. Good writing, but certainly not uplifting.
