Born (1840) in Paris, France - Auguste Rodin is, today, considered to be the progenitor of modern sculpture. Raised in a working-class family - Rodin was already showing promising skills as a sculptor at the age of 13.

This may come as something of a surprise to many - But, during his lifetime, Rodin's work was often met with severe criticism. This glossy volume (with informative biographical text) takes a close-up look at Rodin's most notable sculptures.

*Note* - In 1917 - Auguste Rodin (77 at the time) died of a heart attack.
