I'm a little surprised by the number of stars many people gave to this book. I found it lacking the poetry, even humanity, I expected from a poet. But I only gave it a few chapters because I was turned off with his interpretation of those words. Language is fluid, changing. He approaches it almost with anger and confining. The tone seemed more a world according to David Whyte than a contemplation of words. There isn't an openness of exploration and meaning but definitive conclusions and instruction. Much of it dark, heavy, burdened. That wasn't what I was expecting nor looking for. Hardly consolations by any means. I wish the author greater happiness than it seems he found in writing this book. Now I'm wondering if my two stars were generous!
