Jacques is the curmudgeonly owner of a gritty New York dive bar that serves as home to a motley assortment of professional drinkers. Jacques is determinedly drinking and smoking himself to death when he meets Lucas, a homeless young man who has already given up on life. Determined to keep his legacy alive, Jacques deems Lucas is a fitting heir and takes him under his wing, schooling him in the male-centric laws of his alcoholic clubhouse.

Two miserable people come together to help each other. At times it was hard to stay with it. I'm glad I did.

I was deeply moved by this wholly original and poignant film. The characters were loveable, and the story was uncommonly human yet beautiful and brilliant.

The ending was nothing short of a triumph. THOROUGHLY entertaining from the beginning to the end. Highly recommended!!!!!!!!

You spend a lot of time trying to work up some sympathy for these nothing characters, and finally do, only to be presented with an unfulfilling bummer of an ending. (The joke of the title is in rather poor taste.)

Slow moving with very little action. Sad ending. Shows how life can be difficult & how we create our own destiny. Somewhat deep characters. Story is not very strong.
