Pleasure is the highest good: the group who called themselves the Cyrenaics practised the principle until the death of one from an overdose and the apparent suicide of another. Having a list of the friends' names and their connection might help at the beginning when reading this novel. There are at least 7 friends in the suspect circle and it becomes confusing remembering the names and what their gripes are. DI Marg Fleming uses a mindmap to sort out friends'motives and such a device might also help the reader who is keen to solve the mystery prior to the author laying it all out. There are few clues in the story that are apparent as to which of the friends is the murderer. Of course, some of the friends are also victims, thus reducing the number of suspects.
