Electrifying investigation of White House lies about the assassination of Osama bin Laden

In 2011, an elite group of US Navy SEALS stormed an enclosure in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad and killed Osama bin Laden, the man the United States had begun chasing before the devastating attacks of 9/11. The news did much to boost President Obama’s first term and played a major part in his reelection victory of the following year. But much of the story of that night, as presented to the world, was incomplete, or a lie. The evidence of what actually went on remains hidden.

At the same time, the full story of the United States’ involvement in the Syrian civil war has been kept behind a diplomatic curtain, concealed by doublespeak. It is a policy of obfuscation that has compelled the White House to turn a blind eye to Turkey’s involvement in supporting ISIS and its predecessors in Syria.

This investigation, which began as a series of essays in the London Review of Books, has ignited a firestorm of controversy in the world media. In his introduction, Hersh asks what will be the legacy of Obama’s time in office. Was it an era of “change we can believe in” or a season of lies and compromises that continued George W. Bush’s misconceived War on Terror? How did he lose the confidence of the general in charge of America’s forces who acted in direct contradiction to the White House? What else do we not know?

An excellent book written by one of the very best investigative reporters. There so much more to this book than the title offers but as usual, Mr Hersh keeps you spellbound.

This story about Dustbin Laden is pure fiction. He suffered of kidney inefficiency and was treated in American institutions (in secret). My guess if he was dead of kidney failure long before allegedly his location was stormed (in a cemetery?). He played a role in fabricating pretexts for the invasion of Afghanistan, which was planned and published as a plan in 1990 in "Project for a new American century" by the Wolfowitz group. There they said they would invade first Afghanistan, then Iraq, then Syria, and then Iran. Turkey is one of the main allies of America, if they helped create the Islamic state, then it may be part of the Wolfowitz plan. I saw a video of a lecture of Mr. Michel Chossudovski, professor of economics at Ottawa Univ., and he said the Americans called Dustbin Laden an "intelligence asset." And it's not believable that before being killed, Laden would have said, as the media said somewhere, that Laden told his family to live in peace and well in America. First he would attack America spectacularly and then, tell his own family to love America ind live in it? Prof. Chossudovski said more than I quoted here, on the video, but it's so strong, it would not be allowed to tell the public - he referred to info from Dan Rather, and it would mean that the Dustbin Laden attack was a sham. And Cheyney profited from the Afghan war, bec. his company was the general supplier, even of food, for the troops in Afghanistan. I saw him say on TV, directly into the camera that he was proud to be the supplier of that war. Isn't it a conflict of interest? When Paul Martin became PM, he transferred ownership of his shipping company to his sons, for this reason. So, this Dustbin Laden elimination story is bogus, for sure.

I seriously take issue with some fallacious or specious comments under the Publishers Weekly Opinion - - more on that later!
Hersh does excellent work on this, exposing further 9/11 lives, this time under Obama's administration. It doesn't get a full rating as it is an almost arbitrary issue among the far more serious ones: Robert Parry, resigned or forced out former AP investigative journalist [for printing the actual news and now works out of www.consortiumnews.com], exactly described the physical location where they would find bin Laden ten or eleven years ago, yet it took the CIA and other agencies how many years to finally locate him?????
A most important point among many others.
[The US gov't spent $5 billion to overthrow the Ukrainian government, while any fool realizes the absolute strategic importance of Crimea to Russia, just as America isn't going to allow Cuba to be occupied by Russians, et cetera. PW is pushing the propaganda of this administration.]
