Everyone on the planet should read this book, I have read it four times and will recommend it till the day I die. It is a beautiful blend of sci-fi and fantastic. Marrissa Meyer is a goddess of romance and owns my soul. This book made me cry on multiple occasions

I have a soft spot for fairytales, so naturally I had to pick this one up.

I rather enjoyed the book, it held my interest much more than Anna and the King. It was pretty fast paced, set in a futuristic time in a place called New Beijing, where the characters have Asian names....but that's about it. There's not much information and background provided about New Beijing besides some descriptions about the buildings and what not. Cinder and Prince Kai seem very stereotypical in their roles as the main characters. Prince Kai is the kind and considerate prince, trying to do the best for his people. Cinder is a typical love sick teenage girl (even though she is cyborg her emoticons are totally human).

While the bulk of the storyline is fairly predictable (pretty much guessed Cinder's background right off the bat), as are some of the characters (step sisters, prince, etc), it is however still entertaining. I very much look forward to reading the other books to see what happens and hopefully there is more character and site development

One of the best things about this series is the fact that the author did not go for the "girl with multiple guys after her" strategy that is so over done. The writing is on point and makes it hard to put the books down. I bought the series after reading "Cinder" and I loved every one of the books. It is killer how the author subtly references the original fairy tales. I still love vampire books but I now love cyborgs!

Inspired by every little girl's favourite movie, Cinder is an exciting novel about a girl who looks like any other girl, but she is in fact a cyborg. Just like Cinderella, Cinder is mistreated by her step mother, who she is serving for. Her step sister becomes sick, and Cinder is blamed for it, but an inquisitive doctor may have discovered something special about Cinder, that can help cure sister. Along with that, throughout the book Cinder starts to gain a bond with Prince Kai, who every girl in the town melts over. Overall, I would rate this book a three out of five stars. I think it was very well written and the plot was interesting as it had me reading the book all in one sitting. Anyone who enjoys read young adult fiction, and science fiction would enjoy this book. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

Cinder was an amazing book. It was a surprising twist on a classic fairytale, but I wouldn’t say it had all that much to do with the original. I loved how it was set in the future, with cyborgs, androids, and lunars. (Human resembling aliens.) The characters names and personalities were very interesting, but in a good way. Rating: 5/5

This book was quite well written, if you like a sci-fi--fairy tale mashup. In spite of the differences in genre, it is still compatible and has plenty of suspenseful moments, action, and a hint of romance.

If you have not read this, listen to me. READ IT NOW!!! I can't describe it as 'good', this was beyond amazing! beautifully written and the story is crazy awesome!! Couldn't put it down if I tried. Also if it's unclear to anyone, the book after is Scarlet. That one is a blast as well and continues the story of Cinder. After Scarlet is Cress (then Fairest but that one can be skipped) and then Winter. If you're still really into these books, there is also Stars Above, a collection of short stories the go with the books.

So read Cinder! It's amazing! Read it NOW!!!

not a huge fan of cyborgs and it don't think i liked how it followed cinderella's story although it was intentionally written that way

ArapahoeAlice Mar 19, 2018

A terrific retelling of Cinderella. The familiar parts of the story are that Cinder is an orphan with a nasty stepmother and two stepsisters, and there's a handsome prince and an upcoming ball. But the author's imagination takes off on steriods. Cinder is a dynamic, courageous cyborg with a robot companion, and she's a master mechanic. There's a horrible plague sweeping the kingdom and a powerful Lunar queen who's even creepier than Cinder's stepmother. Enjoyed the depth of the characters as much as the plot.

Cinder is a beautiful re-telling of Cinderella set in the futuristic world of New Beijing with humans, cyborgs and lunar people that reside on the moon with otherworldly powers of control.
