Book News
Vnuk, a librarian, editor, reviewer, and author of the “Weeding Tips” column on Booklist Online, shows librarians how and why to weed their collections to focus resources on those that are most useful to patrons. She does not explain formulas for doing so, but instead covers reasons to weed the collection, preparation, and sample guidelines, then how to weed each subject area of the Dewey Decimal System, the reference collection, media, magazines and newspapers, ebooks, and databases, as well as youth collections. Other chapters address communicating with patrons, weeding horror stories, and the importance of a collection development plan. The extensive appendix contains sample collection development plans from libraries around the US. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
