I know that many people consider the Animals to be one of rock's original grunge bands. It was the distinctive vocal talents of Eric Burden, and the band's gritty, bluesy sound that brought them to the fore of the British music scene in 1963.

In the psychedelic 60s, the Animals' popularity ranked right up there with the likes of The Dave Clark Five, and The Hollies. And they soon became a major driving force behind the first wave of the "British Invasion".

This Animals' Retrospective CD contains 22 tracks which were all recorded in the years between 1964-1969. Three of my favourite tunes here are - House of the Rising Sun, Monterey, and Spill The Wine..... (*Watch music video*)

(Lyrics excerpt) - "There is a house in New Orleans.... They call the Rising Sun.... And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy.... And, god, I know I'm one."

I consider the Animals to be one of rock'n'roll's original grunge bands. With their distinctive vocals from Eric Burden, and their gritty, bluesy sound, the Animals emerged onto the British music scene in 1963.

It was with their #1 hit song "House of the Rising Sun" (in 1964) that the Animals gained significant recognition in Canada and the USA and became a major driving force behind the first wave of the "British Invasion".

In the 1960's "psychedelic phase", the Animals' popularity ranked right up there with the likes of The Dave Clark Five, The Kinks and The Hollies.

This Animals' Retrospective CD contains 22 tracks which were all recorded in the years between 1964-1969. 4 of my very favourite tunes are - House of the Rising Sun, Monterey, Sky Pilot and Spill The Wine (which was a song singer Eric Burden recorded with War following his departure from the Animals).
