What impressed me most about this series second season is the way it handled the subject of sexual abuse and the repercussions on its victims and perpetrators years later.
It was so well done and moving and thought provoking. The cast is excellent but I did need to have the subtitles turned on due to accents that I am not adept at interpreting.

Yes some of the police work is a bit plodding, but all redeemed by the very good acting.

I happen to agree with most of the positive comments.
I like the cop actors.
There is a certain predictability about most English mystery dramas - they generally must conclude, wrap up, explain all the loose ends in the final two minutes. I'm not saying this is entirely different, but it was enjoyable and I recommend it.
There, I've said it.

It was good, but the story is too dark.. and depressing.. Great to see the favourite actors, such as Sanjeev! I did not care for the flashbacks, though! They lacked clarity and were too confusing..
It takes a while for the story to take shape.. so, be patient! It will all make sense and come together as the episodes continue!
It is great to see the compassion and warmth displayed by the main detectives.. At the same, time, they show their own humanity and emotion.. and own struggles in their personal lives..
The portrayal of the various characters is an impressive psychological study in its realism.. Rarely, it is black and white in real life, and this series shows the reality of life's traumatic events.. on all participants..
Impressive series, but I wish it was less dark.. can drag the viewer down.. The last episode did perk up some..like a light in the tunnel!

Each season of Unforgotten follows a team investigating one cold murder case after a body is discovered. Twists and turns plus cliffhangers at the end of the episode help sustain the suspense. Nicola Walker is compassionate and thoughtful. Can't wait for the third season! Highly recommended for watchers who like British detective series that focus on the human element.

The best British mysteries are often about ordinary people who may have done terrible things. There are no true villains or evil masterminds. Just us, flawed and breakable. This series is particularly good in this way - its characters showing tenderness and good intentions along with the horrific acts of murder and abuse. Nicola Walker is superb as DCI Cassie Stuart - someone who can empathize with both victim and perpetrator as well as the many loved ones and family members affected. Layered, complex, and beautifully acted.

The second season is even better than the first season. Whodunnit told at a good pace. Sensitive subject matter is handled with utmost delicacy. Terrific cast, script, direction. Very timely too.

I agree, another winner from the British.

This is an excellent series! I find the British dramas, generally speaking, far superior to North American ones. I don't care for lots of guns and car chases! Tom Courtenay has always been a favourite actor of mine, and he doesn't disappoint. The 2 detective leads are marvellous, as well.
