Maybe you don't know your neighbours as well as you thought you did.... "I'm so sorry. My son has been getting into people's houses. He's broken into yours." In a quiet, leafy suburb in upstate New York, a teenager has been sneaking into houses--and into the owners' computers as well. Learning their secrets, and maybe sharing some of them, too. Who is he, and what might he have uncovered? As whispers start to circulate, suspicion mounts. And when a woman down the street is found murdered, the tension reaches its breaking point. Who killed her? Who knows more than they're telling? And how far will all these very nice people go to protect their little secrets? In this neighbourhood, it's not just the husbands and wives who play games. Here, everyone in the family has something to hide.

I'm afraid to admit that this isn't my favorite of Shari Lapena's books. There were so many characters that I found it hard to keep track of each of them and difficult to find much character development in most of them. I did not guess who the murderer was and was excited it wasn't who I suspected, but aside from that I found it to be just to much.

This was another great story by Shari Lapena. The way the story unfolds always keeps me guessing until the very end.

Loved this story, have read everything by this author. In this case, I chose the audio book from Cloud Library. Not only was the story line excellent, the narration was brilliant.

This was a terrific read! I look for a story to be told almost entirely by dialogue. Shari Lapena did this and MORE! Terrific suspense, characters were easy to relate to, storyline was up to date and the ending was superb. A sequel would be fantastic. I also enjoyed Lapena’s, The Couple Next Door and The End of Her. I borrowed Someone We Know as an express book and being a slow reader....I was worried I might not finish it in seven days....I was done in five. Whew

I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy read and could not put it down. It was a wonderful whodunit, there was never a dull moment with all kinds of twists and turns, till the very last moment you don't know who is guilty. Definately keeps you guessing until the end. This is the second book by Shari Lapena I have read and look forward to reading more of her books.

It’s okay for a long flight. Reads like a script. No descriptions of any emotions, environment, nature or feelings, just dialogues. The plot is dynamic enough but the characters are sketchy. It’s also a bit surreal - four male characters are romantically involved with one female character from the same neighborhood...bizarre.

I’m a Shari Lapena fan. She’s a good writer. I liked “An Unwanted Guest” a little better than this, but this was still an interesting read. I like how she breaks down actions of each character little by little to show how their backstories fit into the unsolved mystery.

This book was interesting enough.
It reminded me a lot of Desperate Housewives with the pacing and the communal involvement.
I felt bogged down by the amount of characters that had their own voice and feel the book would have been more suspenseful with less.

The last few chapters were very entertaining and I spent the whole time guessing who the bad person could be!
Very engrossing.

Someone we know by Shari Lapena is an amazing mystery novel. This book is about a small town that gets rocked by a crazy mystery. It all starts when a young boy starts sneaking into houses one night. Who is he and why is he doing this? After two anonymous letters are sent out from the boy’s mother, people start pointing fingers. To make matters worse, a woman is found murdered down the street. Who did it and who's telling more than they know?

This is currently one of my top mystery books! The plot was so engaging and it constantly kept me on my toes. I read this book really quickly because I could not wait to find out what happened. In addition to the main plot, I also thought the subplots were engaging and interesting as well and it did not feel like she just added them in to lengthen the book. Another thing I loved about the subplots was that they constantly keep you guessing. Since there are so many suspects in this book it is almost impossible to figure out who committed the murder. But once I got to the end of the book and found out who the murderer was I was a little disappointed. She used a character that was not very big in the main plot and it did not really make sense for them to be the murder. But doing this it was very hard to figure out who the murderer was because I constantly kept guessing the wrong people.

In conclusion, this is a fast-paced mystery thriller to keep you on your toes! I will definitely be picking up another one of her books soon since I enjoyed this book so much.
If you liked her other books such as The Couple Next Door you will enjoy this one as well.
