This story is easily one of my favorites! There are many dark, unexpected twists that seem to be obvious, but the end revealing all is one of the most striking moments. Being one of the first Chuck Palahniuk stories I have ever read, I was captured by his storytelling, and I found myself starting and finishing this book in one night. The timeline is a bit difficult to keep up with, seeing as the story isn’t told in order. Each and every character has a distinct and unique personality I’ve never read in any book. This story is definitely one of a kind.

I actually read an ebook copy of this, but SPL only has the audiobook format, so that's what you get. For all I know, a gorilla may have read the audiobook. I have no opinions on that, nothing to review. The actual book, however, as read by the little voice in my head - now that was marvelous. It's the sort of novel that grows on you, like a skin graft. You think perhaps it isn't worth it, it's not all people have made it out to be. But then you get attached to characters you never supposed you could and you find yourself increasingly pleased with the arrangement. It becomes an intrinsic part of you. Very much recommended, if you're not a silly queasy sort.
