Maggie Walther feels like her world is imploding. Publicly humiliated after her husband, a local councilman, is arrested for bigamy, and her subsequent divorce, she has isolated herself from the world. When her only friend insists that Maggie climb out of her hole, and embrace the season to get her out of her funk, Maggie decides to put up a Christmas tree and heads off to buy one--albeit reluctantly. She is immediately taken by Andrew, the kind, handsome man who owns the Christmas tree lot and delivers her tree. She soon learns that Andrew is single and new to her city and, like her, is also starting his life anew. As their friendship develops, Maggie slowly begins to trust again--something she never thought possible.

Richard Paul Evans is a genius storyteller. I know for some this one may have been a miss. While reading this second installment in The Noel Collection, there was a time when I might have been on that team. Then I hit the plot twists and each one drove the narrative deeper into my heart as Maggie and her Noel stranger struggled to find a way forward. What moved the needle for me from "really liked it" to "it was amazing" was this quote translated from a Mexican proverb: "They tried to bury us. They just didn't know we were seeds." I will be pondering that one for awhile and looking at this book through that lense. In the midst of this global pandemic, those words resonate more than they might have at Christmastime and that is a delightful result of God's providence.

I loved this book so much. A truly touching, romantic story, it tugged at my heartstrings.

I usually just love RPE's Christmas offerings. The Noel Stranger not so much. The Noel Stranger was a like a tangled skein of yarn the kitten pulled all over the house: knots upon knots that tangle more as you try to untangle it.

I found the heroine to be utterly vacuous, steeped in and seemingly enjoying her own misery. In my opinion RPE missed what could have been golden opportunities with her friend and her loving neighbors, instead he has her falling in love with a complete stranger after just 2 days and then running off to another country with this virtual stranger ... who ends up being a liar because of a convoluted a scheme in which he is involved, albeit for altruistic reasons. Yikes! Of course, RPE wraps it all up in a very pretty if exceptionally trite and contrived package and, as expected, it all ends well.

I wish RPE would have translated more (all!) of the Spanish for us. It was disconcerting not knowing what was being said. If those conversations were important enough to include, they should have been important enough for us to understand.

<3 stars because after the Alan Christoffersen/Walk series and the Charles James/Road series I (we) know Richard Paul Evans is so much more talented than this little book and have come to expect it from him.

Reading a Nicholas Sparks Christmas Story during the holidays has become an annual event. Wrap up with a good blanket by the fire.....girl falls for guy working the Christmas tree lot. Awwww!

I enjoyed the writing style and characters. Expected sappy romance, but got a little more than I bargained for.

Every Year Richard Paul Evans comes out with a Christmas novel and every year it is the same formula - girl faces a terrible Christmas after her marriage breaks down; meets a stranger, falls in love, only to discover this lover is hiding secrets too. Will there be a happy ending? Well it is Christmas after all. This novel is no different as Maggie discovers her husband has been hiding another family! What follows is true to form and you won't rest till you have finished the novel.

Wonderful read whether for Christmas or any time. Interesting story about families and the relationships with spouses or others. Never disappointed in Evans books - always some lesson to learn and great characters to meet.
