The Yuquot Project, Volume 2Microform - 1980
Series of geological and archaeological papers on the Yuquot site in the Nootka Sound region of British Columbia. The first paper outlines the geological history of the region with some emphasis on glacial history and recent sea-level changes. The second addresses the lithic identifications of 63 selected artifacts and materials. Paper three is an examination of a small collection of bone and tooth artifacts which provided data on sources of raw materials for artifact production and on modification methods. The fourth paper presents an analysis of shellfish remains sampled archaeologically. Complete results of the analysis are presented in tables and histograms. The fifth paper gives a zooarchaeological analysis of more than 1400 remains of barnacles excavated from the midden. Paper six identifies 5966 bones and 67 species of birds in the area. The last paper gives osteological data for human remains recovered form a large midden deposit.
