Proposed Log Management Strategy for the Squamish Estuary

Squamish Estuary Management Plan

Microform - 1987
Rate this:
The Squamish estuary, at the north end of Howe Sound, is about 600 ha in size and has a rich biological productivity, particularly in fisheries. The estuary also provides very desirable marine access for the forestry industry, the railway and deep sea transportation systems. In February 1986 the Squamish Estuary Log Management Work Group was formed to develop a plan for the next 10-20 years which would meet the present log handling requirements of the forest industry, promote the orderly and efficient use of log sorting, storage, and transfer areas, and protect productive fisheries habitat. This report presents the results of that Working Group.
