Offered in 0 more formatsUsing data from the national biomass inventory and other reports, this estimate derives economic supply curves for forest biomass fuels for British Columbia, allowing the analysis of the potential for use of bioenergy in the province. The study updates and expands the British Columbia portion of the work in light of new information available since 1981. Fuel type quantities include mill residues, sortyard residues, forest residues, merchantable surplus, salvage, stand conversion and plantations, with softwoods from merchantable surplus excluded. The study covers 1985-95, with production for 1990 selected to represent the average level of potential output over the decade. Estimates in 1985 dollars were developed for the cost of supplying increasing volumes of forest biomass in each region. Only direct production and transportation costs are considered and no stumpage and opportunity costs are included.
