Position Paper on the Regulation of Home Occupations in the Islands Trust AreaMicroform - 1986
One of a series of position papers produced by the Islands Trust, to preserve and protect the islands and waters between the mainland and the southern third of Vancouver Island. This paper outlines a recommended land-use approach to the home occupation issue, taking into consideration the effects of home occupation on the community, jurisdictional authorities involved in the question, and the regulatory tools available to local Trust committees (zoning, parking, signs, screening, development variance permits, temporary commercial and industrial permits). Also included is a listing of the Nuisance Bylaws authorized by Regional District Letters Patent, by island, and the coverage of the bylaws.
