As a compliment to the earlier history of population fluctuations and infestations of important forest insects in the Vancouver Forest Region, these maps are based on aerially visible damage as recorded in the forest insect and disease survey annual reports. Areas of infestation and numbers of dead trees are not available for some of the pre-1960 outbreaks. Insects covered include mountain pine beetle, spruce budworm, blackheaded budworm, balsam woolly aphid, Western Hemlock looper, greenstriped forest looper, and Douglas-fir tussock moth.
