Strathcona-Westmin Provincial Park Master Plan

Strathcona-Westmin Provincial Park Master Plan

Microform - 1996
Rate this:
Strathcona-Westmin Provincial Park is surrounded by Strathcona Provincial Park in central Vancouver Island. The park is unique in British Columbia in that it contains an operating mine. The park master plan presented in this document has the goal of accommodating the mine and, at the same time, protecting natural resources and providing recreation opportunities within the Park. As portions of the Park are no longer needed for mining activities, they will be added progressively to Strathcona Provincial Park. Sections of the plan cover the role of the Park, zoning (non-conforming use, intensive recreation, natural environment, special features), natural and cultural resource management, visitor services, and plan implementation. The appendix includes a summary of background information on the Park, a summary of public comments on the draft version of the master plan, and a mine decommissioning plan.
