I was confused by the book on every level. It is written in the graphic novel style. But I didn't get the point. Ug spends the whole book questioning the way they live back in the stone age. He comes up with good ides but everyone thinks he is crazy and none of his ideas work. Mom spends all her time in the cave all day, half naked, and pulling out the guts of dead animals. Dad doesn't seem to do anything at all except to talk about back in his day. Interestingly enough, they all talk as if they were in modern day Britain, "Now there's a daft question if ever there was!"

I understand there is supposed to be a large amount of irony going on here, but I'm afraid it was lost on me. Perhaps this is because I am not a major reader of the graphic novel. I spent the whole book cringing every time I looked at the stone trousers and the stone blankets they wore. Ouch! And grossed out by mom and her wallowing in guts while half naked. I think a middle school boy would perhaps enjoy this book much more than I did. I felt like the point of the book was: cave men were primitive and stupid.

This is not a young children's book and is advertized for ages 8 and up.
