The Jobs & Timber Accord is a partnership between the British Columbia forest industry and the provincial government to increase access to timber, increase investment in manufacturing & forest management, and increase employment opportunities in the province's forest sector. The Office of the Jobs & Timber Accord has the mandate to monitor the state of the provincial forest sector, to monitor the progress of the Accord initiatives & recommend remedial action if necessary, and to make recommendations to improve the overall competitiveness of the British Columbia forest industry. This report includes an overview of the Office, a review of the state of the provincial forest sector during the year, and summaries of progress in Accord initiatives in four areas: supporting harvest of more trees, increasing value-added activities, investing in forest lands, and investing in business & sustaining employment. Appendices include monitoring & reporting guidelines.
