This is a 1986 British neo-noir mystery directed by Neil Jordan.
It is about an ex-convict who becomes entangled in the dangerous life of a high-class call girl.
In this film, you'll see the seedy underworld and nothing more, but it is a relief that you see heart-warming relationship between the ex-con and his daughter at the end.

Can we say weird?

Great acting by Hoskins and Caine as well as everyone else. British accents of Hoskins are sometimes hard to follow. Jordan is a great storyteller as usual.

Good acting by the principals, but hard to figure out what the point of it all is ...

Suspenseful, with great acting by Bob Hoskins. A strong sense of the city of London.
