The book gives great detail about how and why this 90s famine happened in North Korea. Their government proves again and again that this short sighted closed fisted approach does nothing for a people. On top of natural disasters, the Kim regime refuses to take the agricultural advice offered from experts and other countries to improve what they grow and how they grow it. Instead, they ignore all logical approaches and and continue to sacrifice their people by letting them starve to death.
