Not the first book I've read by this author, but certainly the best so far. Set in Japan, Harry, the main character, is an American who grew up there, speaks Japanese and understands their culture. With flashbacks to his childhood in Japan the story follows him in the days leading up to Pearl Harbour.
I love all of Mr. Smith's stories but this is by far my favorite. Some dark comedy mixed with a strange story indeed. Extremely entertaining.
patron review:
fact or fiction---an intriguing take on the time before Pearl Harbor, set in Japan, great story.
