I liked this book because it gives a great perspective on the hamsters point of view on everything from food to his cage. I think kids ages 6-12 would really enjoy this book, because I did. Also this book gives good tips on taking care of hamsters.

Freddy is a super smart Golden Hamster. He knows that he is different that the others in his cage, so he gets himself adopted by Sophie, the best girl in the world. Unfortunately for Freddy, Sophie's mom is not thrilled with the idea of a rodent in the house. Freddy must think fast before he is sent back to the overcrowded, substandard conditions of the pet store.

A so-so novel that was translated from the German. Yes, Freddy is cute and smart, but there is nothing that puts this novel above the average children's book.

I LOVE this book! It's so cute!! I've probably read it at least 5 times, and it never gets old!!! It's about a hamster who struggles with being able to write and read, but not being able to communicate with people. It's hilarious and well written.( not to mention just plain genius)
