Data Record on Vegetation and Insect Sampling in the Marine Riparian Zone of Furry Creek and Porteau Cove, Howe Sound, British ColumbiaMicroform - 2004
This report presents data on the marine riparian areas of Furry Creek & Porteau Cove in Howe Sound, British Columbia, as a preliminary assessment of the possible source of organic input to the near-shore juvenile salmonid food web. Researchers positioned five invertebrate traps at each of three locations and examined them for terrestrial & aquatic invertebrate accumulation. They also made a qualitative assessment of vegetation within a five-metre radius of each trap and within an area of 100 square metres at each location. Adjacent back-shore areas were also qualitatively assessed. Data are included on quantities caught of each order or family of invertebrate, common & scientific names of vegetation identified, and percent vegetation cover.
