Managing the health of fish at an aquaculture facility requires a program to determine health status and a system of recording mortality & disease. This document is intended to assist aquaculture operators in writing their own fish health management plans. It is intended as a generic template, with sections for net pen sites, freshwater or hatchery sites, and broodstock. Specific matters covered in the template include biosecurity, keeping fish healthy, fish handling techniques, water quality monitoring, excluding pathogens, minimizing disease, record keeping, drug & chemical handling, fish escapes, fish health outbreaks, rearing environment, feed & nutrition, broodstock selection, and egg disinfection. Appendices include lists of standard operating procedures for a fish health management plan and a list of regulations & policies directly related to fish health management.
