This is the story of the life and work of Camille Pissarro, the West-Indian born leader of the original Impressionists and the only artist from that school to exhibit at all eight of the exhibitions from 1874 to 1886. A considerable influence on Cezanne and Gauguin at the beginning of their careers, Pissarro's great works include the famous Boulevard Montmartre which hangs today in the National Gallery, London.

What is going on with this comment section??
These comments are supposed to be about PISSARRO. And why are some repeated?
OK, about the dvd. My comment is confined to the typically terrible way the British seem to have of mangling the pronunciation of French words and names: Beaux Arts, Cafe Guerbois, Le Grenouillère, Millet, Degas ...all pronounced incorrectly. If you are going to pronounce Renoir and Monet as the French do, then pronounce Millet and Degas as the French do! Unacceptable low standards.

There must be something wrong with the electronic cataloging of this item (a DVD about Pissaro) since it seems meshed with, at least in the comment feature with another (a DVD about Degas).
It shares the same shortcoming in the audio: the art historians can't be heard clearly.
This film about Pissaro has more pictures than the one about Degas, and better describes the social and artistic milieu he lived in and how it affected the development of his art.

An empathetic portrait of this fascinating and enterprising artist, who was known also for his humanity, courage, generosity and wisdom.
