This book is a very bittersweet story about an orphaned hippo and its adopted parent tortoise. Adorable illustrations with which kids and grownups alike will fall in love.

A hippo, who is separated from his mother, makes an unusual bond with a giant tortoise named Mzee. A great story of friendship and family. I recommend visting www.owenandmzee.com to see photos of the real-life Owen and Mzee!
