Good old Dortmunder hasn't changed. He and his gang are always looking for illegal ways to make money, and they learn about a pricelss chess set held in the basement vault of a large bank. It took a while for the plot to move after Westlake set the stage, but the humor built after about the mid-point. My sense of humor may have changed, but I didn't find this as funny as his earlier Dortmunder books.
