Book News
Based primarily on interviews with the marines who were there, this volume reconstructs the six weeks spent in the Pacific theater of World War II by the First Marine Parachute Division. One of the prime impetuses for the volume is to highlight the neglected, yet extremely costly, contributions made by the division to the assault on Guadalcanal in the summer of 1942. A very well written book about one of the first land campaigns in the
South Pacific. It was early in the war when the US was fighting it's way back against the dominant Japanese. Great book.
