Fantastic writing, very vivid and beautiful use of language. A book for those who appreciate writing itself as well as compelling story. 5 stars.

“Gifted” is told with such heart-wrenching clarity that Lalwani develops an immense amount of empathy for her main character, Rumi, right from the beginning. As the story unfolds and the true extent of Rumi’s plight becomes clearer the reader is compelled to consider the social context in which such as scenario could take place.
