The end is coming. Logen Ninefingers might only have one more fight in him but its going to be a big one. Battle rages across the North, the King of the Northmen still stands firm, and theres only one man who can stop him. His oldest friend, and his oldest enemy. While the King of the Union lies on his deathbead, the peasants revolt and the nobles scramble to steal his crown. No-one believes that the shadow of war is falling across the very heart of the Union. The First of the Magi has a plan to save the world, as he always does. But there are risks. There is no risk more terrible, after all, than to break the First Law.

Absolutely loved this trilogy. Abercrombie has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend to anyone that enjoys epic fantasy novels. You will not be disappointed.

Did you read Game of Thrones and think - "I liked it, but it's a little upbeat for my taste"? This may be the series for you! Abercrombie creates characters who are truly awful people, but writes them so well that you can't help but like them. Wonderful series, full of surprises, action and gallows humor.

A perfect ending to a great series! This has become one of my favorites and I would gladly read the entire trilogy again! I couldn’t believe all the twists and turns in this book, not to mention the betrayals. There was so much I didn’t see coming! This series is a masterpiece and I highly recommend reading it! If you have read it than I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

This series has been one of the highlights of my #2015ReadingChallenge
The writing style is perfect for depth of expression of the beautifully flawed & interesting characters & his action scenes are almost perfectly paced.
I was finding myself getting a little sad towards the end of this book as I knew it was the last of the trilogy - there is however 3 stand alone novel set in the same world & I'll be getting into those in the near future & will follow Abercrombie's writing from now with anticipation & excitement!

An absolutely fantastic end to the First Law trilogy. Mr. Abercrombie is a very talented author.

This is the most complete, and most entertaining book in the series. Perhaps it's because how much I had come to enjoy the characters, storyline and Abercrombie's style. It's hard to tell. However, this is a great finale to a very good fantasy series. There really aren't any weaknesses to the book except that at times the characters dialogue has a very modern feel to it. The world building isn't fantastic, but alot of times getting bogged down with alot of semi-useless information about a setting doesn't help move the story along. I think any fan of the darker, more gritty fantasy series should give this series a try. It moves along fast and furious and comes to an interesting conclusion. Every main character is an anti-hero. I loved it.

Violence: Sooo much violence. Torture, duels, full-fledged warfare, supernatural carnage.
