"Suspiria" is a bit better than "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage" for the following reasons:

1. The use of objects and colours is far more ornate.

2. The plot makes almost no sense - for a slasher movie is entirely the point.

3. The camp humour is a bit more developed.

However, it is still not up to the standard(s) of the genre created by Hershell Gordon Lewis (say Gore-Gore Girls, Blood Feast.)

In my humble opinion, I don't think this was Argento's best film. Granted, its audio and visuals have been souped up by THX, one must consider the hideous soundtrack - a grating, monotonous cacophony that will make your ears bleed.

The story and acting is also pathetic too. Where the awful music has been amped, the dialogue quality between the characters has been dumbed down. Not a very balanced experience.
