the title could be regarded as the most pretentious, ever. George Harrison regarded this book so highly he included a woman reading from it, in his song, BRAINWASHED. BRAINWASHED basically rants against the evils of Western Civilization, and the reading from Patanjali is toward the end of the rant, obviously offering a solution to the sickness otherwise referred to as evil, as in earlier in this sentence. Actually I can't recall in all George's preachy songs his using the 'e-word.' ah, now I do: it's in HORSE TO THE WATER; '...the evils of fornication (referring to the answer from a preacher to George's requesting more preaching about God Realisation instead of always going on and on about 'the evils of fornication.') TO KNOW HIM IS TO LOVE HIM (Phil Spector) is relatable to the theme of this book. it's all a matter of capitalization, hon...... reversed, it's 'to love him is to know him.' JNANA is knowledge, in Sanskrit, whereas BHAKTI is love of God. So, according to Prabhupada, automatically one achieves love of God, through knowing Him. And, conversely, one achieves Knowledge of Him, through Loving Him. apologies to Srila, that is a very rough shall we say pastiche of him. Close enough for jazz.
