I can't decide if I like the endless parade of quirky, unattractive misfits in this series. The producers seem to enjoy having the characters vomit frequently, something I don't find amusing. The main character, Doc Martin has been told by his mother that she regrets his existence and that her marriage ended when he was born...a good reason for his animosity toward everyone including animals. His love interest (if you can call it that) is a slightly overweight horse faced teacher who drinks too much and who seems to like confrontations. His aunt is a real old battle-axe who doesn't like anyone. I do like that the players are not all Hollywood types with perfect teeth, but don't they have orthodontists over there?
The scenery is lovely and the plot moves quickly.

Great Britcom!

Came across this series by accident(year one, second showing)) years ago and have been hooked since. I catch myself talking to the TV telling Martin to "hold her hand" or "don't say anything...don't say...too late". Wonderful series and I watch it on my PBS station and cannot wait for it next week. Glad to find them on DVD.

As far as British comedy goes, there's so much more that is better.
