I was drawn in by the cutesy cover art but I could not finish. The Motherless Bear almost made me cry then I closed the book at The Parenting Storks. I’m a fan of David Sedaris but this title was just a little too dysfunctional to be laugh-out-loud enjoyable.

Funny allegorical tales. A book that makes you ponder is a good book.

This was a dark set of fables, and it was a quick read. I didn’t really care too much for it.

Interesting to listen to but not as funny as I expected. Maybe my expectations were too high because of all the rave reviews he gets

Awful book, the Diabetes/Owls is great, but this one is hard to listen to... especially if you love animals. I gave up on about disc 2

YOU'LL WANT TO LISTEN TO IT. SEDARIS BRINGS IT TO LIFE.

This is a very strange book...I wasn't expecting it at all, having read many of his other works. Interesting and worth reading, definitely, but if you're just starting with Sedaris, I wouldn't start here.

A collection of grusome stories about human nature using animal parables... Sedaris must have just broken off his relationship with his partner (Hugh?)... I liked his earliers works much much better... Did not enjoy this book at all...

Violence: One story has the title character murdering innocent animals that he just doesn't like. Another story ends with the title character being killed by a human. And in yet another story, two characters are tortured by humans.

Coarse Language: Swearing is quite common, especially in the conversations between animals.
