Sussex, 2003. When a beautiful blonde girl is found half-drowned on a beach, she has no memory of who she is. Reading a Brighton newspaper article, beautician Dale identifies the girl as Lotte Wainwright. Both girls had become friends, working on a cruise ship, until Lotte fell under the influence of an American couple. The police confirm that the girl on the beach is her much-missed friend. But their reunion only marks a dangerous spate of secrets, lies and nightmares. Where has Lotte been? Who is the man who seems to want to kill her? And what has become of her baby? Dale and Lotte must hold on against the odds, if they are to rebuild their friendship and survive Lotte's stolen - and deadly - past...

This book was entertaining and full of suspense but I was confused.... Was it written for an adult, as per the events and situations (kidnapping, sexual content and other adult situations) or was it written for a younger audience as per the limited vocabulary, immature characters who were supposedly in their 20's, and juvenile dialogue?
