Dave Spritz is a local weatherman in his home town of Chicago. His career is going well, but his personal life is spiraling downward. His relationship with his perfectionist writer father, his neurotic ex-wife, and his now-separated children have him feeling that his life is out of control. Despite being both loathed and loved by the local masses, Dave is a guy who just doesn't seem to have it all together. An attractive job offer from New York City presents Dave with a major question - to pursue his career or to remain at home with his family.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would since really the only reason I borrowed it was because I learned that Nicholas Hoult is in it. I figured I would just fast-forward to the parts with him, but I ended up watching the whole thing.

Awkward and slow to get through. It's hard to empathize with Cage's character. There many moments in the film where you knew it was supposed to be funny, but it just really wasn't. I wouldn't watch it again.

This is another example of not enough information on the
library website to guide the
public regarding the content
of films, in this case, sexual
content and language.
An "R" would be the proper rating .Going by the trailer, one would think this to be a "chick-flick". IMDB will give you the run down under"Parents Guide".
The "Industry" rates it PG-13.

I really enjoyed this smart and quirky film.

A suprising commentary on living the " American dream".. whatever that is..Nicholas Cage puts in a fascinating portrayal of a man trying to figure out who he is- where his life is and what did he miss. His acting is great in this...forget the Ghostrider
(what a turkey that was-- only Peter Fonda made that flick remotely interesting...!!)

Michael Cain puts in another subtle performance as Cage's father- and tries in his own way to warn him of things Cage has overlooked as a father to his own kids. Some very intense scenes- of issues the kids are facing as well as Father & son at the end. Cheers..

A totally random, "film festival" feel of a movie. Had good potential with some good actor choices, but didn't really live up to the expectation. Cage is believable in his role and plays it awkwardly well, but the title is misleading. The "weather" is just his job, but barely relevant to the movie. It is about a messed up guy trying to prove to his Dad that he can get it together. Some good points, but not a movie I'd sit through again. It was "okay"; not good but not altogether bad. The best part of the movie is at the end, when Cage is walking through the streets of New York and says "People don't throw things at me any more. Maybe because I carry a bow around."
