The how, when, where, and why of man's favourite pursuit, with a literary slant. In between ruminations, the author throws in a few tidbits about the great and the good, including Arthur Miller, Harold Pinter, Dick Cheney and Joe Maggio. Mr. Epstein does not gossip about people with no reputation to lose.

Heard a CBC interview with this author last night, and was impressed. Contrary to the title and the brazen pink cover, he seemed a man of some learning and discernment. Every indication is that this book won't be as trite as the marketing and those superficial features suggest. I'll update this comment when my turn comes around to read.
(Incidentally, the interviewer is a replacement for Jian Gomeshi (Sp), and was stellar with this interviewee and the following one. I like Jian G, but going on three consecutive episodes must admit this man is far superior)
