The novel Harry Potter the chamber of secrets is a riveting story about a boy who encounters many different troublesome situations. The series consists of Harry fighting against the forces of evil. This book has many breathtaking events that will cause you to jump out of your seat. The book is full of secrets and harsh relationships that you won’t want to miss. The story starts out as Harry in his house with his unfaithful guardians. You get an understanding that his aunt and uncle (his guardians) don’t really like Harry nor do they like the wizard community. Harry manages to escape his prison-like house with the help of his friends. He lives with his friends family until the new year at Hogwarts begins. Harry is advised not to go to Hogwarts because bad things are going to happen. Overall you understand at this point by seeing the foreshadowing that some terrible events are going to occur at Hogwarts. The author J.K Rowling has done an amazing job of not keeping the reader bored but engaged. She is always throwing conflicts into the book that keeps you thinking of what will happen next. She has great ideas to keep the story interesting. Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets is a great read that keeps your imagination running. The book is a fantasy including wizards, magic, potions, ghosts and talking animals. The author has done a phenomenal job creating this universe full of fantasies. Throughout the book, Harry faces many different conflicts whether it being him and his conscious or him and the forces of evil. I will definitely continue to read the series and read what adventures Harry and his gang get into.

Disclaimer - I am just now reading these books for the first time. The following is a review from this perspective...

Any writer has their work cut out for them when developing a sequel. They have the weight of expanding the universe while continuing character development set up by their first book. In both effects, J.K. Rowling comes to the task in striking fashion with "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The world of Hogwarts, dark wizards, and magic that Rowling builds in her first book is expanded in interesting ways. The Harry Potter and Ron Weasley do most of the heavy lifting gain depth and complexity. The conflict builds with Hermione Granger's life at stake. Fortunately the story leads to a satisfying climax while leaving the reader ready for book three by leaving a few morsels on the table.

Overall, I call this book a success. It's obvious why the Harry Potter universe has had culture spellbound for over two decades!

Chamber of Secrets is usually thought of as the weakest book, but it's better written than the first and third books.

"It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

I enjoyed reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets so much that I couldn't wait for the Main library to deliver Book #3, which I had placed on hold yesterday. Instead, I went to Imaginon because they had the Book #3 available on their shelves, so that I could jump right into it after reading Book #2. Thank God for libraries!
