I just thought this movie was ok. Something to watch on a boring Sunday.

Where did Steven Soderbergh ever get a reputation as a quality director? It certainly wasn't with this piece of disgusting hackwork. There was a faint hope that it wouldn't turn into typical Hollywood claptrap until about half way through. At that time Stevie pulls out all the cliches in his repertoire to fashion a typical ending that will please all his minions.

Contagion is done very well. I enjoyed it as much as I could like a movie about a deadly outbreak. I remember discussing with a friend shortly after it came out on DVD how, given the subject matter, it felt a little weird to say that we liked this film, but we both really liked it. Contagion is rated PG-13 for disturbing content and some language.

the best about that movie is that it does not propagate fear as the most (or all) about diseases like "Day After", "Day After Tomorrow" are doing but actually shows how fear about diseases play very destructive role in that kind of catastrophic movies

we underestimate how big business is all those "alternative lies" about pharmacy, vaccination, GMO, fighting cancer and other fears raised only for purpose of earning money are

of course honestly should be told, that that kind of situation like Contagion is just very specific

fear is always part of human being and selling fear is like selling nude, porno or political programs - it is not so bad, the bad is when we stop paying attention that "uncover" can be also a lie
and usually it is

but in the big mud of lies , from time to time there are really precious stones

Movie was okay. Thought it left some gaps though. Never really understood if the contagion was purposefully introduced or ?

I liked when Gwyneth Paltrow got the contagion (spoiler alert).

Love it. Definately possible with todays transportation. Truly scary when you think about it.

for viewers who like apocalyptic movies, this is a good one.

Contagion was interesting, well directed and acted. It might make each one of us think twice about those things we casually do, whether shopping at the market, riding on public transportation or just giving our friend a hug or a handshake. I would recommend Contagion - it's just not for children.

I have just watched "Food Inc." about factory farming, seen a news story about 7 million piglets dying from conditions on factory farms, and have been very aware of the ebola virus spreading in Africa. A "chaser" like this on top of those really causes one to think about how this movie is not just a story. As a movie, I it is well done in conveying how something like this could get started and its implications should we be faced with such a pandemic.

Aubrey Cheever: "How many people are gonna die?" Dr. Ellis Cheever: "Well, in 1918, one percent of the population died from Spanish Flu. It was - novel, like this. No one had ever seen it before." Aubrey Cheever: "One percent of America?" Dr. Ellis Cheever: "One percent of the world. As many as seventy million people could die, baby, maybe more."

Dr. Ellis Cheever (referencing the nurses strike): "We're just putting healthy people next to sick people and hoping that the healthy people don't get sick."

TV Anchor: "On your blog, you also wrote that the World Health Organization... is somehow 'in bed' with pharmaceutical companies - " Alan Krumwiede: "Because they are. That's who stands to gain from this. They're working 'hand in glove'. And the 'hand' is reaching into our pockets…"

Dr. Ellis Cheever: "I think what Mr. Krumwiede is spreading is far more dangerous than the disease."

Alan Krumwiede: "On 'Day One', there were two people with it. And then, there were four. And then it was sixteen. And you think you've got it in front of you. But next it's two hundred and fifty six, and then it's sixty five thousand, and it's behind you, and above you, and all around you. In thirty steps, it's a billion sick. Three months. It's a math problem you can do on a napkin. And that's… where we're headed, and that's why you won't even tell us the number of the dead, will you Dr. Cheever... But you'll tell your friends when to get out of Chicago before anyone else has a chance…"
