Wonderful book. The story of a 9 year old evacuee from London, sent to a village at the start of the 2nd World War. Heartwarming story of the blossoming friendship between the young boy and the crusty old man he now lives with.

Great novel about an abused boy evacuated out of London during WWII. I was a youngster in primary school when I was read it the first time, it's truly a novel for young and old.

Mister Tom is a lonely old widower who takes in an abused boy evacuated from London during the war. The stage is set for a heart-wrenching tale, but for me it didn't quite deliver. This title is on the 100-BBC best reads list.
