Rejected title: Woody Allen: Sex Criminal at Large.
Very interesting- I had no idea there was so much to Woody's history. Very enlightening and interesting. However I did have a nightmare the night after I watched it that a young girl I know had been sexually assaulted by an old man :(
Great for us Allen fans - but a shame the library didn't get the full 194 minute version instead of this severely edited one which is one-and-a-half hours shorter. This originally screened in cinemas in 2012 as a 194 min. production.
You can buy the full two-disc version on-line in NZ currently for $13 brand new! Just Google it...
I was not a Woody Allen fan but am now. I loved the documentary and feel it was very well done. Also would like to see more of his movies now after seeing some of the process during production of some of them. Would recommend the film.
If you have an interest in Woody Allen and are familiar with his work you will probably enjoy this film that shows how his career evolved. More of a tribute than an analysis, but still an important historical chronicle. Set aside lots of time because the entire documentary is over 3-and-a-half hours long. Interesting.
Must see for any Woody Allen fan.
First half is focused, second half wanders - kind of like Woody's career. Nice to see him talking about his work, though not all the interviewees are great.
